Did you know that changes to the Refugee Family Support Category became effective from 1 July 2022?

These changes include:

1. Places increasing from 300 to 600 places per year.

2. No more sponsor registration fees, application fees, or immigration levies.

3. Immigration New Zealand coordinating and paying for medical assessments, coordinating travel to New Zealand and paying for flights for successful applicants and included family members.

(Note that if you already paid for medical assessments, travel or fees, Immigration New Zealand will not reimburse you).

4. For those approved, Refugee Family Support Category families will now have access to a Community Orientation programme on arrival. They will have access to a refugee resettlement service provider to help with accommodation and settlement planning guidance for sponsors once their applicant family has been selected, and support for sponsors and visa holders in the early phase of settlement into Aotearoa.
